Skin events in helmenthiasis
In cutaneous pathology, especially in children, there are a series of manifestations induced by helmenthiasis. The most common are urticaria and Quincke edema, pruritus, exanthems, eczema. Intestinal parasites are grouped into two main classes: nemathelminthes (Nematoda) – cylindrical worms, that include more families, and plathelminthes - worms with two classes: Trematoda and Cestoda. Pathogenically, a hypothesis has been issued the that intestinal parasites would cause intestinal mucosal ulcerations that allow absorption of food protein molecules incompletely disintegrated, these molecules having high antigenic potential. More plausible is the hypothesis which claims that antigenic substances would be represented by the products of metabolism of parasites in the gut. An argument in this regard is the positive immunological reactions using as antigen extracts of parasite larvae.
