Severe drug reactions: discussions on a case of lamotrigin induced Stevens-Johnson syndrome
Purpose:
To report the clinical findings and ethiological correlations in a case of Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) precipitated by the use of lamotrigine.

Methods:
Case report.

Results:
A 30-year-old woman developed SJS after the initiation of lamotrigine therapy for the control of post-traumatic seizures. After the diagnosis, with supportive measures and a course of oral corticosteroids, the patient quickly improved and made a full recovery.

Conclusions:
This case illustrates the high risk of Stevens-Johnson sindrome in patients treated with lamotrigine and the importance of a quick identification of the culprit drug in such dramatic situations.
