Imiquimod treatment in actinic keratosis – clinical cases
We present the clinical results after local applications of Imiquimod cream 5% in AK treatment in 9 patients, twomen and seven women, with average age of 61.8 years. The number of lesions ranged from 1 to 6 affected areas (mean of 2.8 AK per case). The diagnosis was based on clinical examination and on three cases by biopsy.

We evaluated the results by clinical aspects at the end point of the treatment.
We found an excellent result in 2 cases, a good result in 5 cases and a moderate result in 2 cases. Minor local side effects occurred in all patients, the most important being erosions with microhemorrhages, that caused three patients to withdraw from treatment. Imiquimod 5% cream is a good therapeutic alternative to cryotherapy, diathermocoagulation or to topic 5-fluoro-uracil in actinic keratoses.
