Pemphigoides gestationis (PG) is a rare autoimmune disease that presents during pregnancy.
We present the case of a female patient, pregnant, on third trimester of pregnancy with a report of severely pruritic spread polymorphic eruption, formed by erythematous papules and plaques that begins on the abdomen periumbilical and later, spreads and forms tense bullae that are localized on the soles. The patient also presents autoimmune hepatitis.
The clinical exam, histopathological examination and direct immunofluorescence confirm the diagnosis of PG.
The developing was propitious with the regression of the lesions and the absence of new bullae. The maternal and fetal prognostic was good. PG should be differentiated from polymorphic eruption of pregnancy, also known as pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP).
Biopsy and direct immunofluorescence give the key to an accurate diagnosis.
