THE SIGNIFICANCE OF INTERLEUKIN 8 AND S100 PROTEIN IN CUTANEOUS MALIGNANT MELANOMA

Cutaneous malignant melanoma produces appreciable amounts of S100 protein and interleukin 8. The relationship between anti -S100 immunostaining and tissue concentration of interleukin 8 in melanoma, grouped by Clark level, Breslow index, presence / absence of ulceration, opens the way for some rigorous analysis regarding the pathways of blocking these tumor mediators.
